Accessibility

Learn Battle should work well for as many people as possible. This page shows how far we have come and where gaps remain.

We want Learn Battle to work well for as many people as possible, regardless of age, eyesight, motor skills or how someone takes in information. This page describes our service, the current state of accessibility and known limitations.

It applies to the website learn-battle.de, to the Learn Battle app for iOS and Android and to Learn Battle Studio at app.learn-battle.de.

Voluntary information

Lioverse UG (haftungsbeschränkt) is a microenterprise as defined by the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz, BFSG). The requirements of the BFSG do not apply to services provided by microenterprises. We still publish this information voluntarily. Its content follows Annex 3 of the BFSG.

Our service

Learn Battle app: a learning app for university and school. You create learning planets, let LIO build questions from your materials and learn in battles against friends or in solo training with spaced repetition. The app is free on the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Learn Battle Studio: a tool for educators to create interactive learning content and live battles. Studio comes in the Creator, Basic and Pro plans, cancellable monthly or yearly. You choose and manage your plan on the platform at app.learn-battle.de. For institutions and universities we put together individual offers.

Website: it informs about the app and Studio and contains frequently asked questions, a blog, a contact form, the newsletter sign-up, webinar dates, a mini-game and our legal information. Nothing is sold on the website itself.

State of accessibility

We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA and the European standard EN 301 549 as our benchmark. Our service is currently partially accessible. This assessment is based on a self-evaluation with automated testing tools and keyboard testing.

On the website we have already implemented the following:

  • With the “Adjust display” button next to the language switch you can set the text size up to 150 % and turn on high contrast. You can also stop animations, highlight links, increase text spacing and replace the techy heading font with a plain one. Your choice is stored in this browser.
  • Text grows with your browser settings. Pages can be zoomed to 200 %.
  • If “Reduce motion” or “Increase contrast” is turned on on your device, we apply it automatically.
  • All pages can be used with a keyboard. A “Skip to content” link bypasses the navigation, and the keyboard focus is always clearly visible.
  • Text meets the WCAG contrast requirements. The lettering in the logo is exempt.
  • The language of every page is marked up, including when switching between German and English.

Known limitations

On the website

  • The mini-game is a skill game that needs quick reactions. It cannot be played with a screen reader.
  • Some screenshots and graphics do not have a detailed text description yet.
  • We are still checking older blog posts for alternative text and a clean heading structure.

In the app and in Studio

  • We are currently testing the app and Studio systematically with VoiceOver, TalkBack, keyboard and large system text. Until then, some areas may only be partly usable with these tools.
  • Studio subscriptions paid by educators themselves are processed by the payment service Stripe. We have no influence on the accessibility of Stripe's payment form.

We are working through these points step by step and will update this page whenever something changes.

Report a barrier

Have you come across a barrier, or do you need content in a different format? Please write to us. It helps if you briefly describe on which page or screen the problem occurs and which device or assistive technology you use.
